Internet of Things – communication


Communication is nowadays a must-have feature for most electronic devices, be it through wires or wireless.
The Axtrel platform for IoT (Internet of THings) data collection makes for a robust data-collection system and is easy to implement.

Wireless solutions are often found where a network is not available, or is impractical. They can be used for reading out sensors for the remote monitoring of biometric features, machines or rooms, but also for the collection of measurement data over longer time periods.

There are several known methods:

  • WiFi
  • GSM / 2G / 3G / 4G
  • Bluetooth
  • Zigbee
  • 6LoWPAN

The last three are also suitable for low-power applications where battery must supply the energy for the sensor and the wireless network.

Wireless modem and sensors / 6LoWPAN

A family of wireless sensors based on the (standard) Ethernet IPV6 protocol, allowing 2 directions of communication. The modem version, works with a standard AT-command set. This makes application very easy. A software platform is available for the processing of the sensor data. This is all part of the "Internet of Things" platform.
